India has a great tradition in the field of scholarship, philosophy and science. To uphold this tradition in the field of health is a challenging responsibility of health professionals. India needs to find out her own approaches and strategies to solve health problems. Transforming this challenge into a reality, lies in the hands of our young medical students, the health professionals of tomorrow. They need to be confidently equipped with the right kind of research skills in order to develop a problem solving ability. A slow revolution of this research culture is already in progress in different parts of India. Providing a platform to bring to limelight these research efforts by our budding stars is the need of the hour.
We, the department of Community Medicine had made a humble attempt to provide such a venue through our first and second National Conference held on 11th and 12th of April 2008 and 9th and 10th of January 2009 respectively. Gaining confidence and encouragement from the overwhelming response we received for the last two conferences, we proudly announce the arrival of the 3rd National Conference for students Medical Research. Dates shall be finalized subject to the convenience of His Excellency, Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam for inauguration. The probable dates are 8th and 9th/ 16&17/ 23&24 of January 2010 .
Our theme for this year is “Leadership in Health Care”. The health care scenario of the country is facing multiple challenges. Some of these are consequences of inherent social and developmental problems within the country. At the same time we also face difficulties in relation to global recession. To meet these challenges, the coming generation of young health care professionals need to be equipped with leadership qualities. This forms the basis of selection of this year’s theme “Leadership in Health Care”, which has been, is and will continue to be a priority need of the nation’s health professionals.
Our endeavor focuses on providing a venue for undergraduate and post graduate Medical students to present and discuss their research findings and improve their research skills. We envisage the fostering of genuine interest and the right attitude among young medical professionals, which shall eventually snowball into a research culture and evidence based medical practice in India.
The scientific deliberations during the conference include theme based presentations by guest speakers and free paper presentations by student researchers.
Undergraduate and post graduate students who wish to participate may register their names on or before 1st November 2009. Those who wish to present papers during the conference may submit their abstracts on or before 15 th October 2009.
